This paper concerns Ventilation of the largest road tunel of Egnatia Highway, either in normal operation or for extraordinary emergencies (such as an accident or fire). This tunnel is located between the River Arachthos and Ioannina is the biggest Twin Tunnel Road, cumulative length of about 9 km., Called "Lorenzo Mavilis" (former Driskos Tunnel). In the normal operation the ventilation achieved through a 38 Jet Fans in total, while the emergency construction of a smoke extraction well consisting of 3 Smoke Extraction Axial Fans and 2 Fire Dampers was required. The smoke extraction well is situated in the middle of the interconnecting gallery, between the two tubes of the tunnel at Ch. 8+250. It is vertical with a circular cross section, of 6.5-6.6m excavation diameter and 185m deep. The operation and use of Jet Fans Impulse create both a system "longitudinal" ventilation of the tunnel, and obtained control of pollutants. The smoke extraction shaft comes into operation only in exceptional cases and created a system of "longitudinal" ventilation by using two of the three axial fans, and the third is a backup.

In recent years, the incorporation of micro and nanoparticles has been studied as an alternative to improve the characteristics of the cementitious materials. Researches on the reinforcement of cementitious composites per incorporation of micro and nanoparticles of silica have become more frequent and have demonstrated many benefits. However, the scientific literature is still limited, as there are many controversies and gaps on the knowledge about this subject. In this context, this study has compared the mechanical and microstructural behavior of four cementitious composites: a composite used as reference, a composite containing only 8% of silica from rice husk ash (RHA) in substitution for the cement mass and two others containing the same incorporation of 8% of RHA with the addition of 0.2% and 0.4% of nanosilica dispersed in polycarboxylate (NDP) in relation to the mass of cement........

The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique was used to investigate the aerodynamics of catalytic Bale packing (used for the synthesis of tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) in a pilot scale catalytic distillation column) using commercial CFD software, Fluent 6.1. The global porosity of catalytic bales was considered instead of geometrical features for 2D simplification. The residence time distribution (RTD) simulations were performed and the results compared with the experimental studies. A user defined scalar technique for RTD was found successful in simulating the exit age at different Reynold numbers. The comparison with experimental results indicated a satisfactory agreement. The CFD simulation is an efficient diagnostic tool for determination of RTD.

Salinity intrusion into the estuary of the river Periyar in the western region of the Kerala State was concentrated in view of Mass Balance Equation and utilizing the Harlman's Empirical relationship. The upstream stretch of the salinity front under negative conditions achieves a river section situated at around 20 km upstream the river mouth, where the intake for Kochi Water supply scheme situates. The applied mathematical relationship made to this river conditions constitutes a powerful tool for assessment of the salinity intrusion design in the river Periyar estuary, and an auxiliary instrument for decision making in river basin water management. Accordingly this paper is a re-assessment work based on the conclusions already made.

Text Mining Is The Practice Of Automatic Analysis Of One Document Or A Collection Of Documents And The Extraction Of Non-Trivial Information From The Documents. The Unstructured Text Data Is Processed Using Text Mining To Extract A Structured Data. Now-A-Days, There Exists A Problem In Segregating The Files Into Various Categories, Since It Is An Unstructured Data. Traditional Data Mining Provides Many Algorithms For Mining Useful Patters From Text Documents. But These Derived Patterns Are Not Fruitfully Used For Any Knowledge Discovery Process Especially In The Text Mining Domain. This Paper Presents An Effective Pattern Discovery Technique That Clusters The Documents Based On The Term Frequency Using Frequent Term-Based Clustering. This Will Aid In Improving The Effectiveness Of Updating And Applying The Discovered Patterns In Order To Find The Relevant Information And Knowledge. This Proposed Method Has Also Achieved A Good Performance Level When Compared To Other Existing Techniques.

Angina Pectoris is a common clinical symptom that often results from ischemia of the heart muscle due to the occlusion of the coronary artery. The typical manifestation of angina pectoris is often described as chest pain that is characterized by a retrosternal crushing, burning or squeezing sensation. Normally, the pain is continuous, deep and diffuse. However, one typical characteristic of angina pectoris is that the chest pain is not consistent with the development or severity of the myocardial ischemia: patients with severe myocardial ischemia may feel weak or no angina pectoris.1 Dysfunction of cardiac autonomic nervous system is considered as one of risk factors for coronary atherosclerotic heart disease...............

Conductive materials serve as the basis for smart textiles, an area which has attracted more research and innovation in the last decade. This research sought to utilize the readily available cotton yarn in Zimbabwe and a conductive polymer, polypyrrole, to develop a conductive cotton composite. The conductive cotton yarn was developed through in-situ oxidative polymerisation of pyrrole in the presence of yarn, using both the solution and vapour phase coating techniques with ferric chloride as an oxidant. Resistance of the conductive yarn was measured using the two probe method according to test standard AATCC-76 1995 to determine its conductivity. Mass specific resistance values and uniformity in coating thickness of the two differently coated yarns were compared and examined for evaluation. The optimum concentration of oxidant was 1 mole/litre, where the least value of 0.10kilo-ohms electrical resistance was obtained on a 72tex rotor spun yarn. Vapour phase coating technique was faster and gave better uniformity in coating thickness.

A wideband implantable microstrip split-ring antenna is proposed for biotelemetry applications. The antenna takes up a miniaturized size of is 388.93 mm3 (17.5 mm × 17.5 mm × 1.27 mm). The proposed antenna provides a wideband operation covering between 402-405 MHz Medical Implant Communication Services (MICS) band, 433-434.8 MHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) bands, simultaneously. The radiating layer of the antenna consists of square split-ring (SR) elements and metallic paths appropriately placed between the rings, which provide both an electrically small structure and wideband frequency response. A shorting pin implemented between the outer ring and the ground plane is also utilized for the antenna miniaturization. In addition, the proposed antenna exhibits uniform radiation pattern at the respective frequency bands.

In this paper we study properties of difference equations with weighted differences. Especially we treat difference equations with a space variable x and a time variable t. In the case that average differences by x define the values at next times, effects of weights for average difference s are investigated.
