Automatic Text Summarization is the process of getting a condensed form of a textual document. With the growing information over the world wide web,text summarization becomes an important tool to reduce the information overload problem. Various text summarization techniques have been proposed for foreign languages but few techniques have been found for Indian languages. This paper provides a survey of extractive text summarization techniques for some Indian regional languages..

Title :: Seismic Activity Detection Via Smartphone
Country :: India
Authors :: Rohit Palyekar || Shreedatta Sawant || Tejas Pathak
Page No. :: 05-10

The purpose of this study is to depict seismic activity detection via a smartphone. Smartphones are incorporated with sensors such as 3-axis Accelerometer and Locator, the availability of these sensors in massmarketed communication devices enables us to acquire ample amount of observation data from various locations at once. The accelerometer sensor is used to extract data from various activities occurring around it. The data is processed using a signal processing algorithm and then provided to a classifier algorithm to classify whether the activity is caused by an earthquake. An Earthquake Simulator called as Shake table was used to conduct simulation with smartphones which had our application installed. Once triggered by a mock seismic activity the smartphones alerted the client of an earthquake occurrence and then send a data package to a centralized server for further processing. Thus, seismic activity detection on smartphone provides useful knowledge of seismic energy propagation on an area.

Supply of continuous electricity is still not available in several areas of the country especially in remote part of India. So the refrigeration of food, medicines, etc. becomes difficult and costly.To overcome this difficulty, use of LPG for refrigeration is best contender as it is easily available and cheaper than other fuel. This work investigate design and analysis of an experimental study carried out to determine the performance of LPG cooling system. LPG is mixture of propane-butane mixed in percentage of 56.4% butane, 24.4% propane, and 17.2% isobutene.Also the LPG is environmental friendly and do not produce greenhouse gases and has no global warming potential (GWP). This project is based on vapor compression cycle which will use LPG as a refrigerant but not in close cycle as it is an open cycle where the outlet is connected to the burner.

This research targets to satisfy various needs to bring in customer satisfaction in an economical way. In the multi-purpose refrigeration system, both coolingandheating is done instantaneouslyby using single vapour compression refrigeration arrangement. This arrangementhasthe waste heat recovery system from the compressor for heating effect. In a normal VCR cycle, the refrigerant comes at the exit of the compressor releases heat while entering in to the condenser. The Paper proposed utilizes this waste heat for the heating purpose. It will be used for all simple vapour compression refrigeration systems. The idea can be stretched for uses in air conditions, freezers, water coolers and small scale refrigeration plants. This paper will lead to hybrid coolingandheatingapplication with same vapour compression refrigeration system.

Title :: Design of Heat Sink for Thermoelectric Module Utilizing Waste Heat Energy
Country :: India
Authors :: Mahalingesh Bagali || Dr. V. Mariappan || Parashuram Nandi || G.Shruti
Page No. :: 28-41

Waste heat is the free energy available and can be used to drive something or to improve efficiency of the same machine by converting into useful energy. Waste heat is produced both by machines that do work and in other processes that use energy. These energy forms typically include some combination of: heating, air conditioning, mechanical energy and electric power. A heat engine can never have perfect efficiency, according to the second law of thermodynamics; therefore a heat engine will always produce a surplus of low-temperature heat, commonly referred to as waste heat. The largest proportions of total waste heat are from power stations and vehicle engines. Less than 50% of the energy generated in industrial activities is wasted and combustion engines are even worse, there only 25-40% of power reaches the wheels of a typical automobile, most of the remaining energy is lost as heat.............

Lean six sigma is the name designated to the processes which are meant for reducing the material loss in an industry. The DMAIC method is a fool proof approach for successful implementation of six sigma methodology in any industry. This research endeavors to improve the tablet production of a pharmaceutical company by reducing the amount of material lost in one of the stages of the production. In define phase, the exact problem encountered in the process is briefed with supporting data. In measure phase, the amount of material lost in the important processes such as compression, Fluid Bed Dryer, Rapid Mix Granulator and Double Cone Blender are measured and focus is made on the process which accounts for majority of the material loss. In analyze phase, an experimental design using Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array is adopted..............

Authors :: Shiva Krishna J || Ambesh Shetye || Prabhudev Mallapur
Page No. :: 51-57

BAJA SAE is an intercollegiate competition organized by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) to design, build and race off-road vehicles. Chassis is an important part of the BAJA vehicle that supports body and other different parts of the vehicle. It also surrounds and protects the occupant in case of impact and roll over incidents and also gives the aesthetics of the vehicle. The paper deals with selection of material and cross section for the chassis and analyzing the frame design for different loading conditions to predict whether it will survive various impact scenarios using ANSYS workbench. The chassis design will be based on BAJA SAE India 2017 rule book taking safety and other aspects into account. The results from these simulations indicate that the frame is safe enough for the variety of worst-case scenarios tested.

Title :: Failure Analysis of Composite Fibre Metal Laminate Pipes with PVC Pipes subjected to shear load
Country :: India
Authors :: Shirish Kerur || Dr. Shivakumar S || Nidhi Kerur
Page No. :: 58-61

This work is carried out, to experimentally examine thefailure of FML and PVC pipes due to buckling. The pipe specimen is subjected to gradual circumferential stress with the help of nylon wires and the Load v/s Strain data was stored on the UTM controller. The peak load at which the specimen failed is noted down. Growth of any leak-susceptible crack is considered as a failure. It is observed that the buckling strength of FML pipe was 0.781 MPa as compared to 0.836 MPa of PVC pipe. These values are well above the standard atmospheric vacuum of 0.1 Mpa. This means that the FML pipes can be used for low to medium vacuum applications. Another observation made was, while performing this test the PVC pipe failed distinctly thus causing easy leakage whereas in the FML pipe, failure occurred at the outermost layers only, thus making it less susceptible to leakage

Title :: Effect of Co-substitution on Electrical Behaviour of Nanocrystalline ZnO
Country :: India
Authors :: Umesh B. Gawas || R. M. Pednekar
Page No. :: 62-67

ZnO and Co-doped ZnO were successfully synthesized using simple combustion approach. X-ray diffraction studies indicate the monophasic character of the samples and broadness of XRD peaks suggests nanocrystalline nature of ZnO and Co-doped ZnO. The particle size was found to decrease with increasing Codoping. The FTIR peaks are assigned to the C-O, N-O and O-H stretching in the dry gel, while the IR peaks in the decomposed product are assigned to metal –oxygen stretching vibrations. The room temperature frequency variation of dielectric constant and dielectric loss is explained using Maxwell-Wagner type interfacial polarization and Koop's theory..............
